Reggio Emilia parents protest school canteen food quality and hygiene

Parents in Reggio Emilia have issued an open letter expressing serious concerns regarding the quality and hygiene of school canteen services. The protest follows reports of significant delays in meal deliveries, which have forced many children to eat late in the afternoon.

Beyond scheduling issues, parents are reporting systemic problems with food safety and nutritional value. Allegations include the presence of hair and paper in meals, improperly sealed packaging, and the substitution of fresh seasonal fruit with processed, high-sugar fruit mousses. Many children are reportedly returning home hungry, claiming the food provided is inedible.
