Reggio Emilia wins City Vision 2026 Prize for climate oasis project

Reggio Emilia has been awarded the City Vision 2026 Prize for its experimental project, “Oasi climatiche e punti freschi” (Climate Oases and Fresh Points). The initiative is designed to help cities adapt to climate change and extreme heat waves by providing new urban spaces that promote social interaction.

The project, which includes collaboration between the municipality's environment and welfare services and the local health authority (Ausl IRCCS), aims to integrate climate adaptation with community welfare and health prevention. The first oasis was activated in the summer of 2026 at the Carrozzone social center.
