Regina and Vancouver food banks exchange 50,000 pounds of food

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank and the Regina Food Bank have completed an exchange of 50,000 pounds of food to better utilize regional agricultural strengths and provide variety to those in need.

The shipment from British Columbia included over 29,000 pounds of produce, such as corn, parsley, carrots, and kale, destined for Regina. In return, 22 pallets of Saskatchewan products, including lentils, pasta, soup mix, and rolled oats, were sent to Vancouver.

This marks the second such exchange between the organizations; last year, they swapped more than 90,000 pounds of produce. David Long, CEO of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, noted that the initiative aims to create a distribution system that connects existing food abundance with the areas that need it most.
