Regina Art to stage play about colonial-era activist Auw Tjoei Lan

Regina Art will present a theatrical production titled ‘Njonja Ati Soetji’, scheduled for October 30–31, 2026, at Ciputra Artpreneur in South Jakarta. The play depicts the life of Auw Tjoei Lan, a woman of Chinese descent known as Njonja Ati Soetji, who dedicated her life to protecting women and children from exploitation and human trafficking during the Dutch colonial era.

Joane Win, the founder of Regina Art, will play the lead role and serve as executive producer. The production is based on extensive research conducted over two years by scriptwriter Endah D. Jenura, utilizing historical archives, newspapers, and family testimonies. The play aims to introduce the legacy of the Hati Suci Foundation, which was founded by Auw Tjoei Lan, to younger generations.
