Regina Duarte premieres new play in São Paulo with daughter Gabriela Duarte

Brazilian actress Regina Duarte, 79, has returned to the stage with the premiere of the play ‘A Filha da. . . ’ at the Teatro BDO Jaraguá in São Paulo. The production features her daughter, Gabriela Duarte, 52, marking a professional reunion for the two, who have previously worked together on television productions such as ‘Por Amor’.

The comedy is set in the 1990s and follows a woman obsessed with Princess Diana. The plot involves an accidental killing of her husband after she shoots at a newspaper photograph of Prince Charles, leading to an absurd attempt to cover up the crime with the help of her mother.

The premiere also featured a three-generation family gathering, as Regina's granddaughter, Manuela Goldflus, 20, attended the event. The play is directed by Darson Ribeiro and is part of a documentary project conceptualized by Gabriela Duarte that explores Regina's life as both an artist and a mother.
