Milan selected to host 2028 ESMO oncology congress
Milan has been officially selected to host the 2028 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress, scheduled to take place from October 20 to 24, 2028. The announcement was made during an event at the University of Milan, marking the city's return to hosting this major scientific gathering 18 years after its last edition.
Giuseppe Curigliano, the elected president of ESMO and a professor at the University of Milan, noted that the congress is a global leader in disseminating oncological knowledge. The event is expected to attract approximately 43,000 participants from around the world. The congress typically focuses on presenting original data from randomized prospective studies that can significantly impact clinical practice.
Guido Bertolaso, the Welfare Assessor for the Lombardy Region, emphasized that the selection of Milan reflects the excellence of the region's oncology research, training, and clinical networks. The event aims to highlight the synergy between research, healthcare assistance, and innovation within the Milanese ecosystem.
