RegioJet wins contract for Prague–Hradec Králové–Trutnov rail line

The Czech Ministry of Transport has selected RegioJet to operate the R10 express train line connecting Prague, Hradec Králové, and Trutnov. The new service is scheduled to begin in December 2028.

RegioJet’s bid of 70.40 CZK per train kilometer represents a significant reduction from the current rate of 246.80 CZK. This contract, spanning six years with an option for a two-year extension, is expected to save the state nearly two billion CZK, excluding inflation.

The company plans to upgrade the passenger experience by using renovated carriages that offer three classes: Business, Standard, and Economy. Amenities will include air conditioning, Wi-Fi, power outlets, and onboard snack services. RegioJet also intends to potentially open a lounge in Hradec Králové to enhance service before boarding. To fulfill the technical requirements, the company plans to use its own Class 362 locomotives for the Prague–Hradec Králové section and may lease Class 750 diesel locomotives for the segment between Hradec Králové and Trutnov.
