Region of Crete joins Digital Culture Routes project in Limassol
The Region of Crete participated in the inaugural meeting of the Digital Culture Routes project held in Limassol. This initiative is part of the Interreg VI-A Greece–Cyprus 2021–2027 Program.
The project focuses on creating a cross-border network of digital cultural and tourist routes. It seeks to integrate cultural heritage with innovation, education, and sustainable tourism development by connecting local authorities, academia, and the business community.
Representing the Region of Crete, Deputy Regional Commissioner for Culture and Equality Georgia Milaki outlined a strategy to link monuments, museums, and intangible heritage into a unified narrative. The initiative emphasizes promoting the hinterland and less-visited locations, involving local communities and networking cultural stakeholders. Crete's specific contributions include documenting cultural content and assisting in the development of digital and educational applications.
