Region Stockholm primary healthcare faces staffing and accessibility challenges
Political criticism has been leveled against the Center Party regarding the management of primary healthcare in Region Stockholm. Critics argue that the party's influence has made it more difficult to provide care close to patients, citing issues such as closed health centers and long queues in areas like Nynäshamn.
Regional statistics indicate that one in four individuals lacks a permanent doctor contact at their health center. On average, doctors are responsible for 2,099 patients, which is nearly double the national recommendation of 1,100 patients per doctor. Furthermore, the District Doctors' Association estimates it could take 142 years to fully staff Stockholm's primary healthcare sector.
