Regional administrative and infrastructure disputes in Paraguay and Argentina

In Encarnación, Paraguay, municipal councilman Andrés Morel has questioned a decision by the Municipal Board to approve a discount of 93 million Guaraníes for a company holding advertising and usage concessions for the San José, Mboi Ka’e, and Pacú Cuá beaches. Morel noted the approval occurred “sobre tablas” (without prior debate) and reported that the company ultimately declined the discount, opting to pay the full contract amount. The councilman raised concerns regarding the municipality's financial transparency and the reasoning behind offering such a significant reduction.

In Herradura, Argentina, Mayor Ernesto Heizenreder reported that while local water infrastructure projects are proceeding, a national government decision has suspended a housing project intended for 20 families. Heizenreder stated that the suspension of the housing initiative, which was meant to expand to 60 units, negatively impacts local workers and the construction economy. He characterized the halt in works as one of the most difficult challenges since the administration of President Javier Milei took office.
