Regional assemblies and workshops address local governance and coastal erosion in Italy
In Puglia, the ANCI Puglia regional assembly convened in Fasano to discuss the role of municipalities in territorial governance. Attended by over 200 mayors and local administrators, the event featured thematic sessions focused on welfare, waste management, housing policies, and climate change. The goal is to compile a formal document for the Puglia Region and the national ANCI to ensure local administrators are central to public policy definition.
In Pisticci, a workshop titled “In costante movimento” has been organized as part of the European AD.CO.A.ST. project. Funded by the Interreg VI-A Greece-Italy program, the initiative addresses coastal erosion and land loss through community-oriented adaptation strategies. The project facilitates cooperation between Italian and Greek municipalities, including Pisticci, Zante, South Corfu, and Porto Cesareo, to develop scientific monitoring tools and nature-based solutions to combat the effects of climate change on coastal territories.
