Regional Australian healthcare receives new funding and service initiatives

The Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) has opened proposals for three initiatives to strengthen primary healthcare in the Isaac region. These efforts, part of the Isaac Region Service System Recovery Plan, aim to address workforce shortages and improve access to care in communities including Clermont, Dysart, Moranbah, Middlemount, Glenden, and Nebo. The proposals include a community-led social enterprise general practice model and the recruitment of additional GPs and nurse practitioners.

In a separate regional development, the Ulverstone Lions Club has donated $100,000 to the North West Regional Hospital. The funds, raised through the ‘Every Move Matters’ project, were used to purchase four resuscitaire panels designed to stabilize breathing for infants during hospital transport. Health Minister Bridget Archer commended the community effort, noting the significance of the contribution to local healthcare services.
