Barry Keem attempts 670km non-stop run at Backyard Ultra
Wollongong resident Barry Keem is attempting a significant endurance feat at Red's Backyard Ultra, held in conjunction with the 2026 Backyard Ultra World Team Championships. Keem aims to run 670km over four consecutive days without sleep, a feat achieved by only 20 people globally.
The event, hosted at Kembla Joggers Cross Country Park, involves athletes running 6.7km loops every hour. The competition serves as a platform for the World Team Championships, where countries compete for the highest combined total of completed loops to be crowned World Champion. The race is scheduled to begin at 11pm to facilitate a synchronized global endurance event.
