Regional authorities in Veneto and Tuscany announce new infrastructure measures

In Italy, regional authorities in Veneto and Tuscany have announced new measures regarding infrastructure and land use.

The Veneto Region has approved a regulatory package to manage renewable energy projects. The new legislation classifies renewable plants as being of public utility, urgent, and non-deferrable. However, the plan includes strict protections for the environment, biodiversity, landscape, and the agricultural sector. The guidelines suggest prioritizing existing sites, such as former mines, quarries, landfills, and infrastructure like railways or highways, to avoid conflict with local green spaces and agricultural lands.

Meanwhile, the Tuscany Region has approved a €19.5 million fund to support the creation of new public parking areas across Tuscan municipalities. Aimed at improving urban mobility and decongesting city centers, the fund will be distributed between 2027 and 2046. Preference will be given to projects emphasizing intermodality, environmental sustainability—such as the use of photovoltaic lighting—and services for public buildings or PNRR-funded structures.
