Regional authorities meet regarding Fonderie Pisano and COBEMA landfill sites

In Salerno, the CEO of Fonderie Pisano, Ciro Pisano, expressed deep disappointment following a meeting with Campania regional officials. The company is seeking to restart production using a single existing electric furnace to protect approximately 88 jobs, as the plant has been idle since March 25. Pisano reported that regional authorities provided an unmotivated refusal to hold a Services Conference to address the first phase of production, despite the company's proposal to handle subsequent phases through later environmental assessments.

In Puglia, regional and local officials accompanied a government sub-commissioner to inspect the former COBEMA landfill site in Canosa di Puglia. The inspection aims to determine necessary actions for the permanent closure of the site and to resolve a long-standing European Union infringement procedure. The site's remediation has faced technical, administrative, and financial delays due to legal disputes between the province and contractors, as well as jurisdictional conflicts regarding emergency safety measures.
