Regional budget planning processes face calls for inclusion and community integration

In Mexico, Daniel Carrillo Martínez, the mayor of San Nicolás, has called for municipal leaders to be included in negotiations for the 2027 fiscal budget. Carrillo Martínez argued that discussions regarding the 2027 budget should not proceed until outstanding debts from the 2026 fiscal year are resolved, stating that municipalities must be part of the process given their specific budgetary responsibilities.

In Venezuela, Planning Minister Ricardo Menéndez announced that the 2027 national budget formulation is incorporating community-driven proposals. Through the use of Concrete Action Agendas (ACA), the government aims to transform local territorial diagnoses and identified critical issues in sectors such as health, water, and technology into national public policies and resource administration.
