Regional celebrity love stories: from Goran Žigo to forgotten Yugoslav pop romances
Several former Yugoslav pop stars have had relationships that were once headline news but are now largely forgotten. Notable pairings include Marina Perazić and Vlado Georgiev in the early 2000s, Ana Stanić and Srđan Čolić of "Mobi Dika", Sandra Meljničenko’s brief romances with Pera from Tap 011 and with Gagi Đogani in the early 1990s, Ceca Ražnatović’s early‑1990s relationship with Haro Samardžić before her marriage to Arkan, Danijela Martinović’s marriage to Marko Perković Thompson from 1995 to 1998, and the 1990s couple Boris Novković and actress Bojana Gregorić.
In Croatia, farmer Goran Žigo rose to national fame after appearing on the reality show "Ljubav je na selu", where his courtship of Nevenka Bekavac attracted extensive media attention. Žigo later participated in "Big Brother", famously bringing his own sheep onto the set. He now lives on his farm near Lučani, producing wine, traditional sausages and other agricultural products while promoting traditional Dalmatian values.
