Regional conservation and biodiversity projects launched in Poland

Regional development and conservation efforts are underway in Poland, focusing on both historical preservation and urban biodiversity.

The Agency for Development and Promotion of the Pszczyna Land has secured over 158,000 PLN from the Silesian Provincial Conservator of Monuments to renovate a historic water mill from Bojszów, currently located at the Zagroda Wsi Pszczyńskiej open-air museum. The total project value exceeds 201,000 PLN. The restoration includes replacing the wooden shingle roof and securing structural elements to protect the historical substance of the building.

In Zabrze, a separate project titled ‘Protection of Nature and Biodiversity in Zabrze’ has received funding through the European Funds for Silesia 2021-2027 program. With a total value of approximately 25.4 million PLN, the initiative aims to create mature plant habitats across seven urban locations. The project includes constructing pedestrian paths with permeable surfaces, installing educational signage, and providing habitats for birds, hedgehogs, butterflies, and insects to improve air quality and combat urban heat islands.
