Regional culinary and historical festivals held in Czech Republic
Various regional culinary and historical events took place in the Czech Republic during the last weekend of September.
On Čupek in the Beskydy Mountains, the ‘Polífkobraní’ event hosted by the kiosk ‘The Budka’ drew many visitors. Participants sampled various soups, including goulash, garlic, and pumpkin cream. In a tasting competition, kulajda was voted the favorite dish. The organizer, Hana Šimková, noted that the event remains a popular attraction for the area, with more themed events planned for the coming months.
In Chotěbuz, the Feldküche Fest showcased historical military field kitchens. Organized by the Military History Club (KVH) Chotěbuz, the festival featured nine different kitchens cooking methods ranging from the Roman Empire to the Czechoslovak army of the socialist era. Participants prepared hundreds of portions using wood-fired equipment, including dishes such as goulash and Red Army bean soup, to demonstrate historical cooking techniques.
