Regional culinary festivals announced for Colombia and Mexico
Two regional culinary events are scheduled for September 2026 in Colombia and Mexico, focusing on the preservation of traditional foodways and local identity.
In Montería, Colombia, the Sazón Córdoba event will take place on September 11 and 12. Chef José “El Chato” Barbosa will participate, presenting a culinary perspective rooted in local products, memory, and the relationship between gastronomy and territory. Barbosa, who trained in Barcelona, currently leads deIndias Comedor & Copas in Cartagena.
In Ocoyoacac, Mexico, the First Mexiquense Gastronomic Encounter, titled “Saberes y Sabores de mi Tierra,” will be held on September 5 and 6 at the Museo Batalla del Monte de las Cruces. Organized by the Government of the State of Mexico, the event will feature 56 traditional cooks and representatives from the Mazahua, Tlahuica, Matlatzinca, Otomí, and Nahua indigenous groups. The gathering aims to promote culinary heritage through various styles, including pre-Hispanic and mestizo cuisine, alongside an artisanal pavilion.
