Regional culinary festivals debut in Calatabiano and Arezzo
Italy is hosting two new regional culinary festivals designed to showcase local gastronomic heritage and promote tourism.
In Calatabiano, Sicily, the inaugural “Festà in Borgo” will take place on August 24. Organized by Luca Miuccio and Federica D’Arrò, the event transforms the medieval village into an open-air restaurant. Six prominent chefs, including three locals—Massimo Mantarro, Luca Miuccio, and Antonino Puglisi—will prepare dishes alongside local producers of meats, cheeses, oils, and wines to celebrate the town's cultural and culinary assets.
In Arezzo, Tuscany, the first edition of “Assaggi d’autore” is scheduled for August 26. Located on via Guido Monaco, the event features twenty chefs from across the region. The festival utilizes a “one bite” format, allowing attendees to experience various Tuscan flavors and techniques in a single, immediate tasting. The initiative is promoted by Italian Taste Lodovichi in collaboration with the Unione Regionale Cuochi Toscani and Confcommercio, aiming to revitalize the local area and highlight high-quality regional food culture.
