Regional culinary tourism initiatives launched in Castellón and Castilla-La Mancha
Regional culinary initiatives are being promoted in Spain to boost tourism by linking local gastronomy with cultural heritage.
In Castellón, the fifth edition of 'Otoño Gastronómico' is scheduled to run from October 22 to November 22. The event focuses on seasonal, local products, specifically highlighting IGP Castelló wines and regional olive oil. Participating businesses, including restaurants and wineries, are encouraged to offer unique experiences such as tasting menus, cooking workshops, and vineyard tours. The initiative aims to consolidate indigenous cuisine as a major draw for visitors.
In Castilla-La Mancha, the 'Gastro Experiencia Culinaria' project is integrating gastronomy with historical heritage. A recent event in Ciudad Real hosted over 300 participants who enjoyed tapas from the five provinces of the region while visiting significant historical sites. Officials noted that gastronomy and culture are primary motivators for approximately 40 percent of tourists visiting the area, making the combination of these sectors a key strategic goal for regional development.
