Regional cultural and agricultural updates in Kyoto and Akita

Various regional cultural and agricultural activities are underway across Kyoto and Akita prefectures. In Nagaokakyo, Kyoto, farmers have begun an early rice harvest, attempting a “regenerative second crop” to address rice shortages.

In Akita Prefecture, organizers of the 98th Omagari Fireworks National Fireworks Competition are advising attendees to bring boots. Heavy rains have left significant sediment and mud across the 1.6-kilometer viewing area, requiring intensive cleanup efforts to prepare for the event on the 29th.

In Kameoka, Kyoto, the traditional “San-yare” festival was held to pray for fire prevention and bountiful harvests. Due to a declining birthrate, adults have increasingly participated in the ritual to ensure its continuation.
