Regional cultural and gastronomic events held in Portugal

Various regional cultural and gastronomic events are taking place across different Portuguese municipalities.

In Montemor-o-Novo, the Purple Onion Week is scheduled from August 29 to September 7, 2026. The event celebrates the local purple onion, a symbol of the region's agricultural identity. Activities include direct sales at the Municipal Market, a showcooking demonstration by Chef João Augusto, and a purple onion bread competition, with awards to be presented on September 5.

In Ourém, the municipality is continuing its decentralized summer cultural program through the end of August. The initiative aims to bring cinema and performing arts to various local territories. Scheduled activities include a film dubbing workshop in Fátima and outdoor Portuguese cinema screenings in Cercal and Fátima, providing free access to community members.
