Regional cultural and youth competitions announced in South Tyrol and Tyrol

The third South Tyrol Joke Championship is scheduled to take place in Sarntal on October 23. The competition seeks to find successors to previous winners Luis Hofer and Anastasia Ebner. Participants will be evaluated by a five-member jury based on humor, spontaneity, and comedic timing, while the audience can also participate via online voting.

In Austria, Governor Anton Mattle has announced that youth speech competitions will return to all districts in Tyrol starting in February and March 2027. This decision follows significant criticism after the district-level preliminary rounds were canceled for the 2025/26 school year due to alleged lack of interest. Critics, including the Green Party and the Child and Youth Advocate, had argued that the cancellation limited political participation and children's rights.
