Central European cultural and academic developments

Various cultural, academic, and architectural developments are taking place across Central Europe. In Slovakia, the Prešov Self-Governing Region opened a new €9.5 million multifunctional cultural center in Vranov nad Topľou, featuring a library, educational spaces, and a community hall. Additionally, Prešov University celebrated the start of its 2026/2027 academic year at the Jonáš Záborský Theatre.

In the Czech Republic, the 16th annual Architecture Day festival, themed ‘I Live, Therefore I Am’, is exploring the evolution of housing through tours and lectures in cities like České Budějovice, Jindřichův Hradec, and Volyně. Brno is also advancing plans for the Besední dům, with a 50 million CZK project to create a unified cultural complex through an underground connection. Other community initiatives include the opening of the S klub center in Bratislava and the NOVY community center in Pardubice.

In Croatia, the Croatian Catholic University marked the beginning of its 17th academic year with a religious ceremony at the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua in Zagreb.
