Regional development and economic discussions in North Rhine-Westphalia

In the Lippe region of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Lippe) is calling for improved framework conditions for rural economic areas ahead of the 2027 state elections. Svenja Jochens, Managing Director of IHK Lippe, emphasized that rural regions serve as significant industrial hubs with strong medium-sized and family-owned businesses that provide international services and local employment. The call follows discussions regarding skilled labor security, industrial transformation, and local debates over potential municipal taxes.

In the Rhineland Revier region, the Local Action Group (LAG) has approved seven new LEADER projects totaling approximately 591,000 euros in funding. These initiatives include the digital transformation of the HERZOG cultural magazine, the creation of a tactile bronze model of Linnich's historic city center to assist visually impaired residents, and the development of a new playground and snack garden at Merzbachschule in Linnich.
