Regional development and environmental initiatives launched in Tarija and Colonia
In Bolivia, the Governor of Tarija, María René Soruco, has launched the ‘Plan Tariquía’ following visits to several communities within the Tariquía National Reserve of Flora and Fauna. The initiative aims to address long-standing state absences by focusing on three pillars: community dignity, environmental conservation and restoration, and economic opportunities for local families. Authorities noted severe infrastructure deficits in the region, including a lack of medical services, deteriorating schools, limited electricity, and inadequate road access.
In Uruguay, officials from the Intendencia de Colonia, led by Planning and Environment Director Miguel Asqueta, met with local leaders in Nueva Palmira to discuss environmental management. Key discussions focused on the implementation of ‘Plan Vale,’ a national initiative designed to create economically profitable recycling circuits for containers through corporate and community cooperation. Additionally, authorities addressed growing concerns regarding the preservation and management of the department’s coastal strip.
