Regional development and security initiatives launched in Gabon and Côte d'Ivoire

In Gabon, the Bendjé Departmental Council, led by President Lucie Daker Akendengué, has distributed agricultural kits to producers and cooperatives in the Ogooué-Maritime province. Supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, the initiative aims to transition local farmers from subsistence to market-oriented agriculture, promoting job creation and improved rural living standards. Future plans include structuring producers into cooperatives and improving market access.

In Côte d'Ivoire, the National Security Council (CNS) has provided new vehicles and motorcycles to security forces in the Poro region to combat illegal gold mining. Prefect Karim Diarrassouba facilitated the handover of equipment intended to increase surveillance and response capabilities in areas affected by clandestine mining. This crackdown follows recent operations that destroyed illegal sites in Oumbolo and Tangafla, aiming to protect agricultural land and water resources from environmental degradation caused by unregulated mining.
