Regional development forums focus on AI and economic sustainability

Regional development forums in Žepče and Gorenjska are focusing on economic sustainability, digitalization, and rural resilience.

The 13th Economic Forum in Žepče, organized by the Žepče Development Agency, will address the theme ‘Economy 3.0: Energy, Artificial Intelligence, and People.’ The event aims to promote local economic sustainability through discussions on energy independence, digitalization, and robotics. A notable feature will be the demonstration of a humanoid robot used in local production processes. Additionally, the ‘Job Connect’ initiative will facilitate connections between employers and the unemployed, providing education on using artificial intelligence for job applications.

In Slovenia, the 3rd Gorenjska Development Forum focused on the future of rural areas. Participants emphasized that for rural regions to remain vital and attractive, they must offer quality living standards and diverse employment opportunities beyond agriculture. Discussions included the importance of decentralization, the establishment of provinces, and the effective use of European funds. Experts highlighted the need to connect small-scale farming with local economies and short supply chains to ensure long-term resilience.
