Regional development initiatives launched in Bahia and Maranhão

In Bahia, the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Irrigation, Fishing, and Aquaculture (Seagri) announced the upcoming installation of the Forest Sector Chamber. This initiative, announced during a forestry production seminar in Pedrão, aims to create a space for producers to debate public policies and foster sustainable development within the forestry sector. The project is being conducted in partnership with the Bahia Association of Forest-Based Companies (Abaf) and the Luís Eduardo Magalhães Foundation (Flem).

In Maranhão, the Sebrae Transforma Lab project has identified agriculture and fishing as priority sectors for economic development in Santa Helena. This pilot program, a partnership between Sebrae Maranhão, the local government, and the municipal chamber, utilizes an innovation methodology where local communities and sector representatives participate directly in identifying problems and constructing public policy solutions. Santa Helena is one of three municipalities, including Caxias and Barra do Corda, participating in this experimental approach to municipal planning.
