Regional developments in Senegal and Burkina Faso

In Senegal, the Fondation Sénégal Solidaire has deployed a delegation to Médina Baye to support the Gamou religious pilgrimage. Led by Amadou Dramé, the foundation provided medicines, hygiene kits, mosquito nets, and water to assist the medical coverage for the thousands of pilgrims expected. Religious leaders, including Aliou Seck of Jamiatu Ansarud-Din, noted that the support is vital due to the high density of people and the risks of malaria, respiratory issues, and waterborne diseases during the rainy season.

In Burkina Faso, the Regional Child Protection Brigade of Yaadga intercepted five minors, aged 15 to 17, at the Ouahigouya bus station. The children were attempting to travel to gold mining sites in Mali. Following an anonymous tip, police conducted an intervention and took the minors into custody for questioning. An investigation has been opened by the Prosecutor of Faso. Authorities have urged parents to take responsibility for their children and called on transport companies to strictly enforce regulations regarding the travel of minors across borders.
