Regional developments in Slovak tourism and Czech archaeology

In Oravský Podzámok, Slovakia, new tourist markings are being implemented at Skalka to improve access to a viewpoint overlooking Oravský hrad and the surrounding mountains, including Choč and Racibor. The municipality aims to develop the area with new signage, directional signs, and benches to encourage visitors to explore locations beyond the main castle.

In the Czech Republic, archaeological history surrounds the Býčí skála cave. Discovered by Jindřich Wankel in 1872, the site contained the remains of over forty individuals from the Hallstatt culture, including women, men, and children. The discovery of dismembered remains, luxury jewelry, and weapons led to theories regarding ritualistic mass burials or the violent destruction of a sanctuary during the Iron Age.
