Regional developments in Upper Austria and Tyrol

In Upper Austria, regional Councilor for Economic and Spatial Planning Markus Achleitner reported that land consumption per inhabitant decreased by 5.1 square meters between 2022 and 2025. According to data from the Environment Agency Austria, this represents the second-highest decline in the country after Vienna. The state's strategy includes protecting 100,000 hectares of green space from conversion to building land and utilizing existing vacant industrial sites through a brownfield monitoring system.

In Tyrol, the state government is providing nearly 495,000 euros to fund two research projects identified by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) as excellent. The Medical University of Innsbruck is researching improved cancer treatments through the analysis of chromosomal changes in cancer cells. Additionally, the University of Innsbruck is developing AI models and computer simulations for use in engineering to optimize processes and analyze large datasets.
