Serbia: Vučić pledges support for new Church University
In Serbia, President Aleksandar Vučić announced that the state will provide full support to the upcoming University of the Serbian Orthodox Church, stating it will contribute to national knowledge and the development of young people.
Separately, Aleksandar Popović, a professor at the Faculty of Chemistry and member of the Novi DSS, criticized the decline of the University of Belgrade in the Shanghai Ranking. Popović argued that the drop is not due to political blockades but rather the lack of internationally recognized scientific papers and low citation rates among the professors most vocal in their criticism.
Other regional developments include the Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy launching a public call for energy audits of student and pupil centers to identify energy-saving potential. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federal Ministry of Education and Science has opened a competition for students to submit original dramatic texts and radio dramas, offering cash prizes to encourage artistic development.
