Regional educational support programs launched in Karawang and Kuala Kedah

Regional governments in Indonesia and Malaysia are implementing initiatives to reduce the financial burden of education on families. In Karawang, Indonesia, the local government has launched a free learning module program. While intended to assist parents, school principals have noted that the policy requires strict budget management, as schools must now balance the procurement of books using School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds alongside the provision of these new modules.

In the Kuala Kedah constituency of Malaysia, over 1,200 Form Five students from 13 schools are set to benefit from a free online tuition program. This initiative, a collaboration between Sahabat MADANI and a private company, aims to prepare students for the upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations. The program is designed to provide high-quality learning access to underprivileged families, potentially saving them the high costs associated with private tuition.
