Regional environmental initiatives focus on green transition and climate risks

In Croatia, the SUMA Association is organizing a participatory workshop in Križevci following professional education on “Green Participation.” Scheduled for September 25 at the Cosmological Center, the workshop aims to engage citizens, associations, and local stakeholders in discussions regarding the green transition. Participants will address community issues including waste management, recycling, green spaces, energy efficiency, and climate change to develop formal recommendations for local self-government units.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a forum held under the BRIDGE project identified critical climate and environmental risks facing the Blidinje Nature Park. Participants, including residents, civil protection representatives, and foresters, identified increasing wildfires as a primary threat to forest ecosystems, pastures, and property. The forum highlighted a lack of coordination between various authorities, emphasizing the need for a systematic, unified approach to manage the area's vulnerability and develop a climate adaptation strategy.
