Regional family businesses in Germany and Austria mark transitions and milestones
The Landmetzgerei Kielbassa, a traditional butchery founded in 1949, has announced a leadership transition. On January 1, 2027, current owners Hans-Georg and Beate Kielbassa will hand over the business to employee Marco Adam. Adam, who completed his master butcher training in 2021, will maintain existing recipes and continue sourcing livestock from local regional farmers. The transition will also introduce modern updates, including an Instagram presence and cashless payment options.
In Klagenfurt, the Buschenschank Schifferl has been honored for its long-standing contribution to regional gastronomy and agriculture. Mayor Christian Scheider presented Klara Schifferl with a certificate of appreciation to mark the establishment's 20th anniversary and her 70th birthday. The family-run business, located on a 200-year-old farm, is recognized for its direct marketing of locally produced food and traditional farm life.
