Regional festivals and economic expos open in South Korea

Two distinct regional cultural and economic events are scheduled to commence in South Korea on September 11.

In Jeonju, the 9th Jeonju Reading Festival will take place from September 11 to 13 at the Jeonju Hanbyeok Cultural Center. Under the theme ‘Run, Book,’ the festival features 73 programs organized by approximately 60 institutions. Highlights include lectures by prominent authors such as poet Na Tae-joo and writers Jeong Se-rang and Lee Geum-hee, as well as interactive events like book exchanges, a nostalgic sports day, and exhibitions of citizen-contributed writings. The festival also includes a book market with 13 nationwide bookstores and various activities for children and families.

Simultaneously, the 2026 Jeonnam-Gwangju Social Solidarity Economy Expo will be held at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center from September 11 to 13. The expo aims to showcase the achievements of social solidarity economy enterprises and expand their market opportunities. Approximately 60 companies will operate 80 booths, featuring sales, experience zones, and promotional halls. Special events include a Chuseok gift market, consultations for public institution procurement, and a forum discussing regional strategies and the Social Solidarity Economy Basic Act.
