Religious festivities mark Assumption of Mary in Mexico, Spain, and Guatemala
Various regions across Mexico, Spain, and Guatemala are observing religious and cultural festivities in honor of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
In Mexico, Ocuituco, Morelos, hosted the 3rd Regional Mariachi Encounter, while Yautepec featured musical performances by Celso Duarte and the Big Band Jazz of Mexico. In Guatemala, the 18th Serenata de la Asunción was held at the Metropolitan Cathedral, blending sacred music with jazz to honor the patron saint of Guatemala City.
In Spain, numerous traditions were observed. Ayamonte held the traditional lowering of the Virgin of Angustias from the high altar. Seville celebrated the patron saint with processions and the beginning of the Octava de la Virgen de los Reyes. Other local celebrations included a horseback bull run in Fuentes de Oñoro and various community gatherings across different municipalities.
