Regional film developments in Montenegro and Serbia

Cultural events in Montenegro and Serbia are highlighting regional cinematic achievements. In Nikšić, Montenegro, the film ‘Dimitrije Sinajit’ by Ben Golosovker will be screened at JU Zahumlje on September 22. The film explores the life of the 11th-century church diplomat and writer Dimitrije Sinajit, whose origins in Duklje (Kotor) have recently been confirmed by scientific research, positioning him as a foundational figure in Montenegrin culture.

In Serbia, the 19th Leskovac International Film Festival (LIFFE) featured the exclusive trailer for ‘Ajde’, directed by Ognjen Sviličić. The film is the first production of the LIFFE festival and was shot in Leskovac with a regional cast and crew, including Goran Bogdan and Anita Ognjanović. Sviličić described the project as a ‘true film ex-Yugoslavia’, utilizing talent from across the former Yugoslav region to complete the production in nine days.
