Marijana Janković’s film ‘Dom’ opens Montenegro Film Festival
The film ‘Dom’ (Home), directed by Marijana Janković, opened the 39th Montenegro Film Festival at Kanli Kula. The film explores themes of migration, identity, and the sacrifices made by families moving between countries.
Janković, who moved from Montenegro to Denmark as a child, described the film as a way to transform a difficult family history of displacement and struggle into a story of pride. While the film contains elements of fiction, it is inspired by her personal experiences and the lives of her parents, whom she described as ‘silent heroes’ who moved with little more than a small suitcase to ensure a better future for their children.
The production features a cast including Nada Šargin, Dubravka Drakić, and Zlatko Burić. The film addresses the universal challenges of maintaining family identity and navigating the complexities of living between two nations.
