Regional films gain recognition at Sitges and PriFest festivals

Several regional film productions are gaining international and festival recognition. The Montenegrin minority co-production “Mraz”, written and directed by Pavle Vučković, is set to have its world premiere at the 59th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain. The film, inspired by Eastern Serbian myths, follows a detective investigating a disappearance in a community steeped in superstition.

Additionally, the film “Vidra” (Otter), directed by Srđan Vuletić, has been selected for the Balkan Feature Film Competition at the 18th PriFest International Film Festival in Pristina. The film, which follows the story of a teenager named Hana, will have its Kosovo premiere at the event.

Other notable cinematic developments include the Serbian film “U vrtu moja ruka pušta koren”, directed by Boris Hadžija and Hoda Taheri, which premiered at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Meanwhile, the Serbian documentary “Krečari” is competing for the MIOB In Shorts Award, celebrating European short films.
