Regional fireworks festivals scheduled in Isesaki, Honjo, and Akigawa

Various regional fireworks festivals are scheduled to take place in Japan, highlighting different models of community event management.

In Gunma Prefecture, the Tone River Bando Ohashi Fireworks Festival will be held jointly by Isesaki City and Honjo City on October 10, 2026. The event features large-scale fireworks, including 1-shaku shells, and will take place near the Hattojima Chibikko Plaza and Tone River Jiyu Hiroba. Organizers have opened reservations for temporary paid parking to manage the expected crowds.

In Tokyo, the 8th Akigawa Basin Fireworks Festival is set for November 14, 2026, at the Tokyo Summerland parking area. Managed by the non-profit Machizukuri Consortium, this event operates without government subsidies, relying instead on ticket sales, hometown tax donations, and sponsorships from over 200 companies. The festival utilizes a fully reserved seating system to mitigate the congestion and rising costs that have led to the cancellation or downsizing of many other fireworks displays across the country.
