Regional food and culture festivals held in Tokyo and Kyoto

The ‘Nakano Tohoku Kizuna Matsuri’ festival began on October 24 in Nakano, Tokyo, aimed at promoting the food, culture, and tourism of the Tohoku region. Organized by the Tohoku Seven Newspaper Companies Council, the event features local gourmet food, festival stages, and booths from the ‘Tohoku Mirai Genki Project.’ Visitors can purchase seasonal fruits, jams, and Akita beef.

In Kyoto, the ‘Kyo Veggie FESTA 2026 – Autumn Grand Thanksgiving’ is scheduled for November 14 at Umekoji Park. Hosted by JA Kyoto City, the event focuses on showcasing the value of urban agriculture and traditional ‘Honmamon Kyo-yasai’ (authentic Kyoto vegetables). The festival will include a vegetable market, displays of award-winning agricultural products, and food trucks.
