Regional food education initiatives launched in Japanese schools

Various regional food education initiatives are being implemented in Japanese schools to promote healthy eating and sustainability.

Myojo Foods conducted a classroom session at Sendagaya Elementary School as part of its ‘Mogumogu Classroom’ project. Fifth-grade students participated in discussions regarding food loss prevention, sharing methods such as freezing leftovers and organizing refrigerators. The session included quizzes led by company employees to engage students with topics related to food production and logistics.

In Chofu, FC Tokyo has launched a ‘collaborative school lunch’ program in public elementary and junior high schools. Developed with input from professional players and nutritional advisors, the menu focuses on recipes designed to support physical strength and muscle growth in children. The initiative includes educational sessions where former athletes discuss the importance of nutrition and dietary management to encourage healthy lifelong eating habits.
