Regional football derbies scheduled in Argentina and Uruguay

In Argentina, the Misiones derby returns to national competition as Crucero del Norte and Guaraní Antonio Franco face off in Garupá. The match, scheduled for Sunday, August 30, marks the first round of Zone 8 in the Torneo Regional Amateur and is the first time these teams have met in such a tournament in nearly a decade.

Club officials at Crucero del Norte have been preparing the Santa Inés stadium, including turf maintenance and infrastructure upgrades, to host the event. Security operations are being coordinated with the Misiones Provincial Police to manage the crowds.

In Uruguay, the Clausura tournament continues with the fourth round. The highlight of the matchday is the classic derby between Peñarol and Nacional at the Campeón del Siglo stadium. Liverpool currently leads the tournament with a perfect record, followed by Boston River and Montevideo City Torque.
