Regional Football Tournaments Launch in Burkina Faso and Guinea

In Burkina Faso, the 2nd edition of the Coupe du Renouveau was officially launched at Pouytenga on 2 August 2026. The ceremony was led by High Commissioner Moctar Ilboudo, with the presence of Benoît Tiemtoré and radio director El Hadj Irrissa Yamba. The opening match saw FC Lion d’Or defeat AS Bark‑Pouiré 3‑1, and a total of 17 clubs from the Nakambé region are competing.

In Guinea, the Ligue régionale de mini‑football de Conakry is preparing for its inaugural championship. Regional head Amadou Bobo Bah organised friendly matches among teams from the capital’s thirteen communes, with national team selector Abdoul Aziz Sow praising the progress. The league’s kick‑off is scheduled for September, aiming to uncover talent for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
