Regional funding initiatives launched in Italy for forestry and marine protection

The Tuscany region has allocated 400,000 euros to enhance training for forestry workers between 2026 and 2028. This initiative aims to improve workplace safety, environmental protection, and territory management. Following changes to regional forestry laws, specific training will become mandatory for professionals in the sector starting January 1, 2028. The 40-hour training programs will focus on preventing health risks and accidents, as well as sustainable forest management, including timber felling and processing. The sector includes approximately 1,500 companies in Tuscany.

In a separate development, the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area has received 262,515 euros in funding from the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security. These resources are designated for fire prevention, video surveillance, environmental education, and sustainable mobility. Key projects include installing thermal and optical cameras for forest fire monitoring, upgrading surveillance with artificial intelligence, and implementing environmental education programs for schools and universities. Additionally, funds will support sustainable mobility through the completion of bicycle path lighting and the installation of superfast electric vehicle charging stations.
