Regional gastronomy festivals celebrate lamb in Portugal

Several regional gastronomy festivals celebrating lamb and local products are scheduled to take place in Portugal.

In Penela, the IV Gastronomic Week of Lamb and Mushrooms will run from October 30 to November 8. Eight local restaurants will participate, offering dishes featuring lamb and mushrooms alongside regional products such as Vinhos Terras de Sicó, Rabaçal cheese, and honey. The event aims to promote local gastronomy and boost tourism in the municipality.

In Celorico da Beira, the Serra da Estrela DOP Lamb Festival returns to the parish of Carrapichana on October 24 and 25. Organized by the Celorico da Beira Municipality, the event focuses on the Bordaleira Serra da Estrela sheep breed. The festival includes musical performances, traditional crafts, a livestock show, and culinary experiences led by various chefs, alongside activities like the Great Transhumance Route and traditional games.
